KUCHING: A group of 16 students from Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Executive College, is organising a food donation drive to fulfil their Mata Pelajaran Umum (MPU) 2432 Co-curriculum Activity/Project course.
Students are expected to develop new skills in leadership and teamwork and at the same time experience a sense of increased self-esteem and greater self-worth.
The main purpose of this food donation drive is to increase the awareness among public on ‘social dimension of wellness’ that will encourage them to assist and contribute back to the society.
The organisation being chosen for this drive is Sarawak Hun Nam Siang Tng, a charitable institution in support of serving the people irrespective of race or religion.
The project team has two locations for the food donation drive for different period of time, one at Crown Square, Ground Floor (Oct 16 to 27, 2017) and the other location is at Executive College, Level 2 (Oct 31 to Nov 10, 2017).
The collection booth will open every weekday except Wednesday from noon to 2pm. Target food items are biscuits, oats, condensed milks, sugar, rice, noodles and cooking oil. However, cash donation is also accepted.
The students will channel the collection to the centre in November and a few activities will be carried out with the elderly inmates at the home.
This is aimed at promoting love and caring values among youngsters to the elders.
