BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The country’s rakyat and residents including members of the public service are urged to uphold the responsibility and survival of the long-existing Brunei Adat Istiadat, for they are the successors of the customary heritage. The call was made by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Yang Di-Pertua of Adat Istiadat Negara, at the closing of a three-day workshop, brudirect.com reported.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz said that we indirectly are trustees in upholding the Malay Islamic Monarchy ideology and philosophy. This shows the close relations fostered in the Brunei Darussalam communities. This close relation is evident in the surrounding lifestyle. If this is present, the love for the country and nation can continue to grow and will become the core of every action taken in daily life.

Yang Amat Mulia also presented certificate to 80 participants – representing government ministries and departments – who have completed the Adat Istiadat Workshop. Parts of the program’s contents were to expose the Royal Customs to the participants as the country’s future generation. The workshop was a collaborative continuation effort between the Adat Istiadat Negara Department and the Public Service Institute in ensuring that the Brunei community understand the court language and its importance, protocol arrangements, and the proper use of titles and addressing language.
