LONG LAMA, Baram: The state government, through the Ministry of Local Government and Housing, will study the need to develop housing projects in Long Lama to further enhance development in the area.

Assistant Minister of Housing and Public Health Dr Annuar Rapaee said housing projects have the potential to be developed due to high demand from Telang Usan folk.

“It is a loss if people can buy a house but we cannot supply it. The state government has many housing plans but it has yet to come to Long Lama. The demand is there, so there must be a supply.

“Hence, I will discuss with Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau and Sarawak Housing Development Corporation (HDC) on how we can bring development to this area,” he said.

Dr Annuar was met after officiating at the launching ceremony for the Long Lama Cluster Clinic here on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Dennis said he hoped residents in Telang Usan will be able to enjoy the convenient and well-planned housing infrastructure.

This includes low-cost housing projects such as Rumah Mesra Rakyat and medium cost housing projects.

“We received many applications from community leaders and residents in Telang Usan who have the money to buy a house, but there is no house to buy here in this area.

“Thus, I hope that a housing development project can be planned and implemented here to develop this area as soon as possible, especially when this (Long Lama) is the capital of Telang Usan constituency. I, as the elected representative, am looking forward to rapid development here,” he added.
