SEBUYAU: The development of Sebuyau New Township will turn the area into a major coastal town, bringing economic benefits to the locals and people living in the coastal areas.

According to Assistant Minister of Coastal Road Datuk Julaihi Narawi, Sebuyau is located strategically along the coastal road and has the potential to be developed as a major town.

“With Sebuyau well connected by road, the development of Sebuyau New Township augurs well for the area to become a major coastal town and also the economic belt for the people residing in the coastal areas,” Julaihi, who is also Sebuyau assemblyman said.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg had performed the earth breaking for the Sebuyau New Township on Thursday.

Sebuyau is now well connected with the completion of Batang Sadong bridge and the Samarahan bridge which will be completed in June next year. Julaihi hoped that Sebuyau would become an economic hub for coastal areas.

Covering 298.51 acres, Sebuyau New Township will be developed by Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) in stages.
