KUCHING: Semenggoh Wildlife Centre at Jalan Puncak Borneo here received a royal visit from Britain’s Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales yesterday evening.

He was accompanied by Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah. They arrived there at 4.36pm and their arrival was received by senior officers from the centre.

Upon arrival, Prince Charles was taken to the orangutan living area to enable him to have a closer look at these primates.

He then signed the guestbook, before being briefed by the management of the centre on its operation as well as visiting a gallery housing information on the animals at the centre.

He spent about half an hour there before leaving to the nearby Sarawak Biodiversity Centre for his next visit in the itinerary.

Both Prince Charles and wife Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker Bowles were in Kuching for a brief visit to the state capital.
