Best student Yi Wen receives i-CATS Challenge Trophy

KUCHING: Bong Yi Wen is the first winner of the i-CATS Challenge Trophy for being the best student.  This was announced during a recent excellence awards ceremony held at the school hall of SMK Sungai Tapang.

International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i-CATS) CEO Mohamad Isham Fauzi presented the trophy to Yi Wen together with a certificate and cash prize of RM300.

The Form 5 student who is sitting for the SPM examination thanked i-CATS for the honour of being the first recipient of the i-CATS Challenge Trophy. He plans to pursue a degree in engineering. Mohamad Isham shared that the Challenge Trophy was part of i-CATS’ longstanding tradition to advance human capital development.

“At i-CATS, we have long appreciated the pivotal role of parents and educators working as one to nurture young minds and guide them along their academic voyage.

“With the support of the principal, counsellors and teachers, SMK Sungai Tapang, as the first public secondary school in Malaysia to be recognised as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, has reached out to many students as they strive to achieve academic and life goals,” he said in a press release.

While at the school, Mohamad Isham presented a contribution to the school on behalf i-CATS, received by the school’s principal Bekon Jenet and witnessed by Bong Kuet Fong, president of its Parent-Teacher Association.
