KAPIT: Kapit Division Archery Association are “working hard” in a bid to host next year’s State Championships. Its president Ting King Yiing disclosed this and hoped it will serve as a platform to further promote the sport.
He was speaking at the association’s ‘Family Gathering’ held at the rented archery hall at the Bletih Industrial Lot here.
Calling 2017 “a very successful year,” Ting highlighted their achievements which included the graduation of four state-level and one international and five state-level umpires.
The Kapit Inter-School Tournament was organised and one primary schoolgirl represented Sarawak at the Malaysian Inter-State Age-Groups Students Championships.
Ting also revealed to the 100 members and their families that the association has applied for a piece of state land (open space) to facilitate practices for 50, 70 and 80 metres.
He has written to Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander NantaLinggi, who is Kapit Member of Parliament, to help.
The association, which currently has about 50 active menbers, has also adopted schools to further promote the sport including SK KampungBaru, SJK © Hock Lam, SSMK Selirik, SMK Kapit and SMK Kapit.
Present at the social event were key officials of the association, Dato’ Yong Hua Sying and Tiong Ping.
