KUCHING: Gillian Lim continued her good form in the 18th Asian Schools Tenpin Bowling Championships to bag another gold for Malaysia on the second day of competition at Megalanes Sarawak, Batu Kawa yesterday.
Partnering Puteri Nurul Dini for Malaysia A Team in the Girls Doubles, Gillian knocked down 1,252 pins over six games to add to Puteri’s 1,218 pins for a total score of 2,470 pins to top the field of 14 teams.
It was Gillian’s second gold of the tournament after she won the Girls Singles gold on Monday with 1,271 pins.
Najwa Nazirah and her partner from Sarawak Nur Aina Kamalia made it a one-two finish for Malaysia A when they felled 2,424 pins, finishing just seven pins ahead of Singapore pair Fiona Yew and Zong Shin Yi.
In the boys doubles played in the morning, Callum Borck and Lachlan Stephenson of Australia A grabbed the gold after knocking down 2,696 pins.
Malaysia A’s Muhd Hazim Alihanafiah and Ahmad Azriq Izamudin were second with 2,625 pins while Hong Kong A’s Ivan Tse and Alex Yu took the bronze medal with their combined score of 2,623 pins.
At the end of the Day 2, Malaysia A are still leading the medals table with two gold, three silver and one bronze medals.
They are followed by Australia A with one gold and one silver, Hong Kong A with one gold and one bronze, and Singapore A with two bronzes.
The competition will continue with the team event today and the Masters tomorrow.
