No Malaysians affected in California shooting, says Wisma Putra

PUTRAJAYA: No Malaysians were affected in the shooting incident on Tuesday in a northern California town where four people were killed and 10 wounded, according to the Foreign Ministry.

It said in a statement yesterday the Malaysian consulate-general in Los Angeles was working closely with the authorities to obtain updates on the incident.

Media reports said a gunman took aim at people in an elementary school and several other locations in or near the Rancho Tehama Reserve, a community of about 1,500 people, killing at least four and wounding at least 10 before he was shot dead by the police.

Wisma Putra said Malaysians requiring further information on the incident could contact the Consulate-General of Malaysia in Los Angeles.

It also said that the Malaysian government strongly condemned the act of violence and extended its deepest condolences to the government and people of the United States, especially to the families of the victims. — Bernama
