Dr Rundi wants next Dayak Youth Badminton tournament to be held in Bintulu

KUCHING: Kelab Badminton Kenyalang (KBK) patron Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, encourages the annual Dayak Youth Badminton Tournament to be held in Bintulu next year after its success here (Kuching) this year.

Dr Rundi who is also Minister for Public Utilities pledged RM30,000 to the club as his contribution to the organisation of the tournament in Bintulu next year.

He made the commitment during the courtesy call on him by KBK executive committee members led by KBK president Petrus Ngalih Tingi at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex yesterday.

Also present at the courtesy call were KBK advisor Churchill Edward Drem, deputy president Diana Empeni Lang and secretary-general Anthony Ugur Nili as well as Minister for Welfare, Community Well-being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, political secretary to chief minister Petrus Igat and Dr Rundi’s private secretary Stephen Ruin.

The inaugural KBK Dayak Youth Tournament was held at the Champion Hall at Batu 11 along Jalan Kuching-Serian on Sept 1 and 2 this year.

It was supported by several other elected representatives and  corporations. It managed to attract young players from as far as Miri and Sri Aman, said Anthony.

KBK next activities would be badminton coaching clinic at Sentosa Sports Centre Jalan Stakan on  Dec 1 and 2 and a blood donation campaign in collaboration with the Blood Bank of the Sarawak General Hospital Kuching on Dec 9  at the Boulevard shopping mall.
