Fajar International College’s DipOSH students learn to put out fires.
MIRI: A total of 130 students from the Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health programme of Fajar International College experienced a fire drill at the college on Oct 19.
The fire drill was organised by the students themselves under supervision of lecturers.
It aims to allow students and hostel leaders to recognise a fire alarm, identify the assembly point in an emergency, and know how to use fire extinguishers.
This was real life experience for the students besides knowledge from books. The hands-on experience should come in handy in future careers.
Fajar International College’s new academic session is open for enrolment.
Its capstone programme, the Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health (DipOSH), is the only college Diploma in OSH
programme recognised by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Malaysia and Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)-UK besides the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) accreditation in East Malaysia.
With recognition from DOSH Malaysia, graduates could register as safety and health officers (SHOs) upon completion of three years of relevant working experience.
The college pointed out that only graduates recognised and endorsed by DOSH Malaysia can apply for registration as safety and health officers.
