MIRI: A 49-year-old man was killed when his car overturned at Km12 of Jalan Dato Joseph Balan Seling near Pujut 7 here on Thursday evening.
Reuben Juh @ Ngau Juh died at the scene of the 8.15pm accident, revealed state Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department deputy chief DSP Bingkok John.
Bingkok said initial investigations revealed that Reuben was driving from Lambir to his house in Permyjaya when his car went out of control, veered into the opposite lane and hit a road divider.
The car overturned and Reuben, who was pinned to the driver’s seat, succumbed to injuries at the scene.
Reuben’s 20-year-old son in the passenger seat suffered light injuries.
Personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) responded to the call for help, and extricated the victim from his wrecked car.
Both Reuben and his son were sent to Miri Hospital by ambulance.
Reuben was pronounced dead in hospital.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
