MIRI: Opposition parties here support Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s stand on the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

According to Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Miri chief Dr Michael Teo, both his party and the Democratic Action Party (DAP) are firmly behind Abang Johari on the issue.

“We Sarawakians, regardless of the party ideology, BN (Barisan Nasional) or the opposition, will support Abang Johari on the matter involving Sarawak’s interests, especially MA63,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday.

“We, PKR and DAP, are solidly behind Abang Jo and hope he accepts the challenge made by (Parliament Speaker Tan Sri) Pandikar (Amin Mulia).”

Pandikar had recently called for an open debate on MA63.

“Since Abang Johari has the support of Sarawakians regardless of political ideology, he should accept the challenge for the debate and state his points so that Pandikar will use extra caution when commenting on our interests,” added Dr Teo.
