HSU Standby on Diphtheria

AMUNTAI, S Kalimantan: The North Hulu Sungai (HSU) Health Agency began to anticipate after the Diphtheria case outbreak in South Kalimantan, AntaranewsKalsel reporteed.

Head of Disease Control and Environmental Health (P2PL) of the HSU Health Agency Irham in Amuntai on Saturday said it received information that the Banjarmasin Ulin General Hospital had received one referral patient from the Tanah Bumbu Dr. H Andi Abdurrahman Hospital diagnosed with Diphtheria.

“The referring child patients from Dr. H Andi Abdurrahman Hospital was diagnosed with Diphtheria fever and swelling in the neck and pain swallowing food,” he said.

Irham said Ulin Hospital has made sure the patient aged 3 years showed symptoms of Diphtheria. He is now treated in the Bougenvile room on 5th floor, which is an isolation room.

He asserted that Head of Banjarmasin Health Agency Anis Suroyo officially said that the patient named KDR is the first patient with diagnosed suspect of diphtheria now being handled by Ulin Hospital.

“Immediately the health office will conduct a coordination meeting with all heads and staff at all health centers to be able to immediately prevent the outbreak of Diphtheria Disease if any HSU people are infected,” he said.
