MIRI: The government has been called on to immediately repair the Menjawah-Belaga road, which collapsed due to a landslide on Tuesday.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat Hulu Rajang chief Abun Sui Anyit pointed out repairs are urgent as many would be travelling on the road for the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“The government needs to urgently upgrade this road and make sure the road link will not be cut off during this rainy season,” he said yesterday.

Abun claimed the road’s foundation is not solid and its poor conditions have been highlighted on social media this year.

According to him, even before the landslide, the road was already muddy and riddled with potholes.

On Tuesday, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) executive secretary Datuk Awang Bujang Awang Antek reported to The Borneo Post that Belaga town was completely cut by the landslide at Km30 Menjawah-Belaga road.
