Number of flood evacuees in Sarawak decreasing

MIRI: The number of flood evacuees in Sarawak is declining with 139 people from 25 families, as of 4 pm.

At noon today, there were 265 flood victims from 66 families at three relief centres in Limbang and Kapit.

According to the secretariat of the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBNS), the flood relief centre at the Medamit Community Hall in Limbang was closed while a new centre was opened in Bintulu this morning.

“The Tatau Sports Hall in Bintulu houses 15 victims from four families,” it said in a statement today.

JPBNS said two flood relief centres remained open, namely the Trusan Community Hall in Limbang and Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Nanga Merah in Kapit.

“The Trusan Community Hall has 68 victims from 14 families, while SK Nanga Merah has 56 victims from seven families,” it said. – Bernama
