The Old Courthouse is a place where good food and good ambience come together.

KUCHING: Food Journal, in collaboration with Uber Malaysia, celebrated Christmas with a bang this year as it welcomed Kuchingites to its first ever Night Market at the Old Courthouse on Dec 17.

Local celebrity Pete Kallang and his band were on hand to charm visitors with his remarkable voice and delight fans with his hits.

With a variety of food and drinks as well as activities for kids and adrenaline junkies alike, the one-of-a-kind night market – though small – aimed to bring people together to enjoy food and drinks while having a great time with their family in ‘The Spirit of Christmas’, which happened to be Food Journal’s theme for Christmas this year.

With an insatiable appetite for growth and an ambition to be the number one brand in lifestyle F&B concept in Sarawak, Food Journal now manages the 150-year-old colonial Old Courthouse – built by Charles Brooke, the second Rajah of Sarawak. It currently operates a few F&B outlets and one tourist centre at the Old Courthouse.

‘Commons’ is a casual and hip café in the heart of Kuching at the Old Courthouse where people and imagination converge. It serves western and local comfort food.

‘Lucky! Charlotte’ is a modern British colonial bar surrounded by greenery, with decks overlooking the historic India Street and Old Courthouse. Definitely a place to chill with your friends and loved ones.

‘The Den’, also called the gentlemen’s place, provides a wide range of whiskey from all over the world for patrons to enjoy in a cosy and luxurious interior.

‘Mr Jiu Jiu’ provides casual fine dining with dark toned walls and long drapes for a more relaxing, private, romantic and intimate feel. It is perfect for couples and even families who desire amazing food and great music.
