15 new records at Sibu Age-group Swimming Meet

SIBU: 15 new records were created at the three-day Sibu Invitational  Age-group Swimming Championship which ended at Bukit Lima Swimming Pool here Sunday afternoon.

Kilian Ung of SMK Chung Hua bagged 13 gold and two silver medals to win the Best Swimmer Award in Boy’s A while schoolmate Ngu Jiung Rong took the same honours for Boy’s B with his personal tally of 10 gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

Alan Sia of Sibu Amateur Swimming Association was adjudged the Best Swimmer in Boy’s C after winning 10 gold, three silver and one bronze.

The Best Swimmer in Boy’s D was Brian Lu of SJK Methodist who took home five gold, three silver and one bronze.

Brian’s schoolmate David Wei won that title in Boy’s E with his haul of six gold, three silver and one bronze.

Girl’s A Best Swimmer was Nee Qian Yuan of SMK Chung Hua who garnered 13 gold and three silver medals.

The Best Swimmer in Girls’ B was Adeline Lau of SMK Chung Hua who bagged eight gold, two silver and four bronze.

Miyuki Wong with her massive collection of 11 gold medals was Girl’s C Best Swimmer.

Girl’s D Best Swimmer was Emily Wong (nine gold and one silver) while Moh Jung Ming with 10 gold medals was adjudged Girl’s E Best Swimmer.

A total of 216 swimmers from various primary and secondary schools took part in the competition.

Sibu Municipal Council chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King officiated at the prize-giving.

Meanwhile, organising chairman Tony Hii, who is Sibu Amateur Swimming Association secretary, said Sibu would be sending a contingent for the Sarawak Age-group Championship to be held in Miri from Feb 2-4.
