KUCHING: An accident involving a car and a pickup truck at Jalan Stakan, Kota Samarahan claimed the life of a teenager yesterday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Razmi Fardhuqa Menten, 18, of Kampung Hijrah, Simunjan.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said Razmi was a passenger in the car driven by a 33-year-old man.
“The car was heading to Kota Sentosa from Kota Samarahan around 1.10pm when it went out of control and entered the opposite lane, and collided with a pickup truck driven by a 37-year-old male from Kota Samarahan,” he said yesterday.
Razmi was pronounced dead at the scene while the car driver was sent to Sarawak General Hospital for treatment. The pickup truck driver suffered only minor injuries. The case has been classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
