“We have built a nation that is peaceful and stable with the people free from any threats. We have brought about tremendous development and a national transformation agenda,” he said when launching the Sahabat Puteri BN: AZALEA 2018 programme here yesterday.

AZALEA is aimed at forging solidarity among the Puteri wing of Umno,  BN component parties, NGOs, university students and young women to boost support for BN.

The pirme minister said the current BN leadership will continue to work to bring a brighter future for Malaysia via the Transformasi Nasional 2050 (TN50) vision and make the country among the top 20 nations in the world.

“I want to ask, if this our aspiration, can a 93-year-old man take us there? That is the question. We can answer that ourselves,” he said, alluding to former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is now leading the opposition.

Meanwhile, Najib said he hoped AZALEA would be a great new force and respected in the BN machinery.

“I want that all gathered here today specifically those representing millienials  be fully committed to work hard to ensure a resounding victory for BN  in the 14th General Election (GE14), “ he said.

Najib also expressed his appreciation on the setting  up  of AZALEA, saying it symbolised the unity of its members who came various ethnic groups and backgrounds to champion the BN’s cause.

At the same time, Najib outlined three things that the AZALEA network must strive for, firstly to operate as one unit, be strong and forge great teamwork.

“Secondly, we must serve with sincerity to the party and nation. Because this is the idealism in fighting for the younger generation. All personal interests must be set aside,” he said.

Thirdly, he said, they must believe in their cause which was to build a better future for the  people. — Bernama
