SIBU: Assistant Minister of Housing and Public Health Dr Annuar Rapaee wants pet owners to bring their dogs for vaccination as it is the only way to curb the spread of the deadly rabies.

In giving this advice yesterday, he urged the public to take advantage of the free mass anti-rabies vaccination programme at Durin Basketball today from 9am till 4pm.

“Don’t take things for granted. Bring your pet dogs for (the free) vaccination.

“Your pet dog has the risk of contracting the virus which causes rabies and therefore, your family is also at risk. Once diagnosed, there is no cure and 99 per cent of patients end up dying,” Dr Annuar, who is also Assistant Minister for Education and Technological Research, stressed.

Members of the public may call 013-8077964 or 084-310808 to find out the exact location and the dates for the free vaccination.

The exercise, which started on Jan 20, runs until March 1.

After the session at Durin Basketball Court today, the free anti-rabies vaccination programme will be held in Ulu Durin Kiba area on Jan 24 from 9am till 4pm.
