KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Pantai Damai is going a step further to improve the level of education in the constituency.

Pantai Damai assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the party branch from this year will accord recognition to students at tertiary level by giving them education incentives.

He said the education incentives given to PMR, PT3, SPM and STPM students have motivated school children to perform better resulting in more students scoring straight As in public examinations.

“From this year onwards, we (PBB) have decided to give education incentives to students at tertiary level because what we have done (give education incentives) at primary and secondary school levels have succeeded to produce more students excelling in public examinations,” he said on Thursday.

Dr Abdul Rahman, who is Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity pointed out this when presenting fund worth RM181,000 to 49 associations and clubs from Pantai Damai constituency at Hotel Dormani here recently.

In view of this, he urged village chiefs and chairman of associations and clubs in the area to help spread the news to the villagers and members and liaise with Pantai Damai service centre.

He also hoped that parents and teachers in the area continue to help with the programme to make it more successful.

Dr Abdul Rahman also hoped that associations and clubs in the area play proactive roles to organise programmes like trainings by working with different government agencies for the benefit of the members.

He said chairman of various associations and clubs in the area must also tell and explain to members the various government policies and development agendas.

“As heads of associations and clubs, you have an important role and obligation to tell members about the various policies, programmes and development agenda of the state government,” he stressed.
