MIRI: The Hospital Run 2018 event will be held this April 8 aims to raise funds and to promote active lifestyle as well.

Miri Hospital director Dr Jack Wong said run – into its second year – is organised by Sepitar Sejahtera, which is a club established under the hospital to promote healthy lifestyle.

“Registration for Hospital Run 2018 on April 8 is still open, and those who have yet to get the form can register manually or online,” he said yesterday.

Forms are available at Share Tea (Boulevard Commercial Centre), Bulatan Park Canteen and Miri Hospital administration office, while online registration can be done at http://bulatanparkrunnersclub.com/mhr.

“The overwhelming response we received for our first charity run encouraged us to organise the second edition. This year’s event on April 8, 2018  is in conjunction with World Health Day on April 7.”

According to Dr Wong, they are targeting 1,500 participants to join the fundraising event and support their cause.

The funds collected, he revealed, will be used to upgrade the hospital’s facilities and other immediate needs.

“Last year, thanks to public support, we funded 10 organ donation awareness campaigns and managed to get 229 new pledges. We also managed to furnish a few workstations for our wards,” he said.

Dr Wong also revealed Miri Hospital hopes to do more public health promotion activities, including a conference on diabetes that will be held in July.
