‘Baram hoping to be upgraded to a division’

MARUDI: Baram folk are working towards getting the area upgraded to a division.

Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau said although the process will take time, the dream in on track as there are three districts in the area – Marudi, Telang Usan, and Beluru, while the Sub-Districts are Mulu, Long Bedian, Lapok, and Bario.

“With the upgrade to divisional level, there will be much good, such as jobs and business facilities,” he said during a wellness programme for women at at Rumah Lalo Akang, in Sungai Selejau Melikat near here on Tuesday.

“But we must stay strong in the government as nothing comes from the opposition. So, do not believe all that you receive through social media, especially the sources that we don’t know.”

He pointed out that the government’s ‘Baram Team’ – comprising himself, Mulu assemblyman Dato Gerawat Gala, Marudi assemblyman Datu Dr Penguang Manggil, Baram Member of Parliament Anyi Ngau, and political secretaries to the Chief Minister Charles Balan Seling and Alexander Asing Sadai – have major development plans for the whole of Baram.

Dennis stressed that Baram folk must remain with Barisan Nasional and be prepared for the development plans under Transformasi Nasional (National Transformation) 2050.
