SIBU: Over 100 golfers are expected to compete in the Chinese New Year Special sponsored by Sibu Golf Club (SGC) president Dato Sri Wong Ing Kee at Sibu Golf Course on Feb 10.

“I hope golfers returning from outstations and overseas for the Chinese New Year will be joining,” Wong said after handing over the 3-year Challenge Trophy to SGC captain Lau Hie Ping on Tuesday.

He revealed that some golfers from Sibu, Kuching, Miri, Sarikei and Bintulu have confirmed participation in the competition which started 14 years ago.

Apart from the attractive prizes, there are Chinese New Year hampers to be given away as lucky draw prizes.

Hole-in-one achievers will each receive RM5,000.

Meanwhile, SGC secretary Roland Ha said the event this year would be made merrier with lion dance performance before the tee-off at 8am.

“During the prize-giving at our club house, there will be activities like karaoke session, traditional Chinese dance performance and Chinese New Year songs by local artistes,” he added.
