KOTA KINABALU: Four ministries and their respective departments have moved out or will be moving out from Wisma Tun Fuad Stephens, which was built in 1984.

Presently, the Ministry of Industrial Development and part of its offices have moved to the old address of the Ministry of Finance in January this year.

The Ministry of Local Government and Housing and some of its departments have also relocated to Wisma Innoprise in mid-August last year.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment and the Ministry of Community Development and Consumer Affairs are expected to move to the new Sabah State Administrative Centre (PPNS) soon.

Sabah Development Bank remains in one of the buildings.

The State Government-owned Wisma Tun Fuad Stephens, which comprises three identical 11-storey buildings, has a total built-up area of 138,000 square feet.

It is learned that the management company of Wisma Tun Fuad Stephens is currently negotiating with several government agencies on the possibility of moving into the vacant units.

On rumours that the about-to-be vacant Wisma Tun Fuad Stephens might be turned into a hotel, the management company commented that there was no such plan at the moment.
