Long queues seen at one of the petrol stations in Kapit, triggered by the rumours.

SIBU: The panic buying of RON95 in Kapit, which caused a shortage brought about by rumours on Friday, is over.

Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) chief enforcement officer for Sarawak, Abdul Hafidz Abdul Rahim, clarified that fuel replenishment arrived late on Friday.

“The supply of RON95 is back to normal today (yesterday).

“I advise the public to not panic – be rest assured that the ministry will always monitor the supply of petrol,” he said when contacted yesterday, adding that KPDNKK would immediately instruct the petrol companies to undertake the necessary steps should there be any shortage of supply.

On Friday, the supply of RON95 was depleted in one of the three petrol stations in Kapit, caused by panic buying triggered by rumours.

The supply was still available at the other two stations at the time.
