Sukma shadow bowlers busy with exposure competition

KUCHING: Villaivan Jee Edmund and Mohammad Aris Jolhi beat Arrolflyn Elvis Slie and Lukman Hakim 15-2 to win the inaugural bowling tournament involving Sarawak Sports Corporation, Sarawak State Sports Council, Sarawak High Performance Sports Unit, Elite Centre and Centres of Development which was held at the Sarawak Lawn Bowls Arena in Petra Jaya last Sunday.

Ramlee Ahmad and Ismail Maraj defeated Bolhassan Abang and Iskandar Hasbi 15-1 in the play-off for third place.

Prizes were given away by Sarawak Lawn Bowls Association deputy president Poniman Bejok.

Also present were the association president Awang Mahyan Awang Mohamad and organising chairperson Eqa Eqma Bujang Adris.

Fifty teams took part in the three-day competition which also served to give exposure to the Sukma shadow team.

According to Eqa, Sarawak will also be fielding 13 athletes against a Hong Kong team in a friendly game on Feb 15 arranged by the national head coach Zuraidi Putih.

The Sarawak team will compete in the Champion of Champions and the Negeri Sembilan Triples in March for exposure.
