RM10,000 fine for two, community service for 11 for throwing rubbish around their houses

KOTA KINABALU: Two house owners were fined RM10,000 each, in default, two days in jail while another 11 persons were ordered to perform community service for three months for discarding rubbish around their living premises.

Sessions Court judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamed meted out the penalities to all the accused after they pleaded guilty to each of their charges under By-Law 3 (a) of the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (Anti-Litter) By-Law 1984 yesterday.

The charges carry a maximum fine of RM10,000 and for repeated offence, a fine of up to RM500 for each day the offence was committed.

Those who were ordered to undergo the community service of four hours a day were released on RM10,000 bail each without collateral.

All of the accused persons committed the offence at their living premises in Kampung Sembulan here on February 1.

A City Hal officer prosecuted the case.
