KENINGAU: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) has questioned the promise made by Minister of Tourism and Culture Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz to move the Oath Stone from the District Office compound to the proposed site near Keningau Heritage Museum.

“Where is Nazri’s pledge and promise to move the Oath Stone?” STAR president Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan asked.

He said it seems that the Federal Government was not serious and  committed to move the Oath Stone despite the promise and announcement of an allocation.

In a statement here yesterday, Jeffrey said Nazri, who visited the site, had announced a RM1.1 million allocation in May last year to move the Oath Stone to a site near the Keningau Heritage Museum.

However, he said, since the announcement until now, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, under the leadership of Datuk Nazri, had yet to commence any site work for the purpose of moving of the Oath Stone.

“Are the Federal government and the minister (Nazri) serious or committed with their promises? It does not seem so,” Jeffrey said.

“Like their other promises, including the MA63 (Malaysia Agreement 1963). However, we will wait and see,” he said.

Jeffrey said the people of Sabah, especially the Keningau people, were still hoping for the promise on moving the Oath Stone project to be fulfilled before the 14th general election.

Recently, Jeffrey, who is also Bingkor assemblyman, along with STAR Bingkor divisional chief Robert Tawik, and other party leaders visited the museum’s building.
