KOTA KINABALU: A 35-year-old lorry driver sustained head and leg injuries after his 10-tone lorry plunged into a quarry at Kampung Kivatu, Jalan Tambunan in Penampang yesterday.
State Fire and Rescue Public Relation Officer, Superintendent Mohd Affendy Ramin said the victim had been taken to hospital for treatment after being trapped at the driver’s seat for a couple of hours.
“Fire and Rescuue personnel managed to free him and was immediately taken to hospital for treatment,” said Affendy, adding that the victim sustained head and leg injuries in the 1.30pm incident.
Affendy said a Fire and Rescue team from Penampang was dispatched to the location after receiving a distress call at 1.40pm.
He added that the victim was reported to be in stable condition.
