TAWAU: A furniture factory was destroyed by fire while a workshop and a car accessories shop were almost completely destroyed at Mile 2, Apas Road on Thursday night.
District Fire and Rescue Department station chief Sharudy Delamin said a distress call was received at 7.14pm and 43 firemen in five vehicles and three utility vehicles including a firemen team from Kunak rushed to the scene about four kilometers away.
He said the furniture factory was completely gutted while the workshop and accessories shop were about 90 percent destroyed.
Shurady said firemen used four lines and seven hoses from fire engines, a nearby water hydrant and from the river nearby.
He said the fire was put under control at 8.24pm and the operation ended at 7.30am.
There were no reports of casualties and the cause of the fire is being investigated.The fire at its height at Mile 2, Apas Road, on Thursday night.
