KUCHING: Monash University Malaysia was recently rated outstanding (Tier 6) university in the latest Malaysia rating for University and University College Excellence Setara-2017, conducted by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), Malaysia.
The Setara-2017 is an institutional rating using an integrated instrument aligned with the Malaysian Education Blueprint (Higher Education) 2015-2025. A total of 71 higher learning institutions participated in the exercise.
“Our 6-star Setara rating is recognition of our outstanding teaching and research performance. Students studying at Monash University Malaysia receive a world class Australian degree while studying in a dynamic and innovative Malaysian environment.
“As we move into our 20th year of operation in Malaysia, we are proud to be placed in the very top cohort of Malaysian universities,” said Monash Malaysia president and pro vice-chancellor (Interim) Professor Andrew Walker in a press statement.
Setara-2017 is an institutional rating using an integrated instrument aligned with the Malaysian Education Blueprint (Higher Education) 2015-2025. It focuses on institutional excellence for Higher Learning Institutions (HLIs) to build strong fundamentals to deliver on three core functions: teaching & learning, research & Innovation, and services to community and industry.
The exercise classifies its ratings into six tiers, ranging from Tier 1 (poor) to Tier 6 (outstanding).
