KUCHING: Find all the different types of programmes offered by Epsom College in Malaysia (ECiM), University of Waikato and Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) at MMS Education Fair at Sandakan’s Sabah Hotel tomorrow (Friday, March 9) from 2pm to 6pm and Pullman Kuching on March 11 from 12noon to 5pm.

ECiM, located on a 50-acre site at Bandar Enstek, south of Kuala Lumpur, is an extension of Epsom College in the UK, which was founded in 1855 and has a long history of educating Malaysians and international students.

ECiM follows the English National Curriculum with all subjects taught in English. There is a strong emphasis on languages, including Bahasa Malaysia, French, Mandarin and Spanish.

The Senior School for pupils aged 11 to 18 years is both a day and boarding school whilst the Prep School is for day pupils aged three to 11 years. Students sit for GCSEs and A Levels, with the majority going on to study at prestigious UK universities.

ECiM offers a true British boarding experience. Boarding and pastoral care are central to the life of the college and the houses are the focal point of the pupils’ lives at the College.

The principal function of the house structure is to provide an efficient and well-tested means of providing outstanding pastoral care, which includes overseeing academic and personal development and the welfare of the pupils.

The teaching faculty at Epsom College is exceptional. The overwhelming majority of teachers are UK trained, and have experience in British Curriculum Schools in the UK and internationally.

The fees are competitive compared to other international schools in Malaysia and abroad. The facilities are on par with Epsom College in the UK and far surpass those found at most other boarding schools in the UK.

With a generous amount of space available, pupils thrive in a modern and secure campus with unrivalled academic, co-curricular and boarding facilities.

The University of Waikato, located in the central North Island city of Hamilton, is an internationally recognised tertiary institution offering degree programmes designed to produce job-ready graduates.

Each year, the university provides more than 2,000 industry placements and internship opportunities, believing its students benefit from the chance to put the theory they have learnt in classrooms into practice in a real-world employment environment.

In 2017, the QS World University Rankings placed the University of Waikato in the world’s top 1.1 per cent of universities – jumping 100 places in just four years. It is a reflection of their ability to challenge, inspire and prepare students to lead change.

Beyond academic life, the university has an enthusiastic and energetic international student support team who are dedicated to helping international students with life outside the classroom including medical insurance, visa renewals as well as organising social events to connect you with other students and the wider community.

For high achieving international students, the university offers an International Excellence Scholarship, up to NZ$10,000.

As the University of Waikato continues to grow, it is expanding its teaching and research activity to the Bay of Plenty region, building a new campus in Tauranga’s CBD, opening to students in February 2019.

At Singapore Institute of Management Global Education (SIM GE), one of the most exciting aspects of an education is the opportunity for personal growth, teamwork, artistic and cultural expression, social integration and peer-leadership that complement the challenging academic life of the institution.

Among the many international student clubs on campus is the Malaysian Community in Singapore Institute of Management (MCSIM).

The club brings Malaysian students together to bond, organise activities and lend a helping hand to freshmen to settle into campus life quickly.

Management Foundation Studies student Leticia Laura Chandra Mohan shared that MCSIM has given her a great experience being involved in additional activities apart from studies.

It has helped her to be more energetic, more interactive and able to work better in a team besides developing new skills.

Accounting and finance student Woon Yun Xuan said MCSIM has been like a home since she stepped into SIM and the care and love that members have demonstrated towards each other has motivated her to join MCSIM as an exco member.  SIM and MCSIM, she added, have changed her life and taught her the importance of leadership skills, teamwork, the ability to adapt to change as well as showing trust and respect towards each other.
