Anti-rabies vaccination programme to be launched in Miri tomorrow

MIRI: The fourth stop for the mass anti-rabies vaccination programme at the civic centre here tomorrow will also mark the official launching of the programme for Miri Division.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas is expected to launch the programme which will be held from 9am to noon.

The programme is conducted by the Department of Veterinary Services and assisted by ten non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the city.

During the vaccination programme, the Miri City Council (MCC) will set up a special counter for dog owners to apply for licensing of their pets.

In addition, there will also be a counter on Public Awareness on Rabies by Miri Health Office.

Dog owners who missed the last three anti-rabies vaccination programmes can bring along their pets to obtain the free vaccination.

Members of public are also invited for a public talk on rabies where they can get accurate information on rabies disease.

The last two stops for the programme will be conducted at Dato Permaisuri Hall in PermyJaya new township (March 18th) and new hawker centre in Jalan Maigold of Desa Senadin on March 25. Both sessions will start from 9am until 4pm.
