KUCHING: League leaders KRFC Blackcatz are expecting to score another big win when they take on UiTM Hunters today at the 1Div Muara Tuang Camp at 2:30pm in their third league match of the Kuching Rugby League (KRL).

They opened their campaign with a 41-19 victory over GB13 Skulls on Feb 24 and followed up with a 37-0 win over Unimas Lycans last Saturday.

“Yes, we are expecting to win by a big margin in tomorrow’s game. Most of the players are local and some of them are students and working adults.

“The boys are playing well and we hope to keep the winning momentum going by securing another good result against UiTM Hunters,” said KRFC president Yusop Shah Mokhsen yesterday.

“Our final target is to be the champions,” he declared.

Yusop said the team is coached by Azhfar Rahman and Nick Dexter while the team manager is Ismail Mortadha Lau.

Blackcatz are leading the league with 10 points from two wins. Two points behind them are Wolfpack who have collected eight points from one win and one draw after the second week of competition.

WORC are in third place while the teams in fourth to eighth positions are KWRC, GB13, Unimas Lycans, RMP Sarawak and UiTM Hunters.

Another game will be played at the army camp rugby field and it is between Unimas Lycans and Wolfpack at 4.30pm.

At the Song Kheng Hai Rugby Field today, WORC will play GB13 at 2.30pm while RMP Sarawak are up against Kenyalang Warriors in the other match at 4.30pm.

KRL will have a break on March 18 to give way to the Mukah 10s.

This inaugural league organised by the Kuching Division Rugby Association is played on every Saturday and ends on April 21.

Champions will receive RM2,500, first runners-up RM1,000 and third placing RM500.
