Kapit Fest to coincide with Baleh Kapit Raft Safari from April 6 to 8 — Secretary

KAPIT: The Kapit Fest will be held from April 6 to 8 this year to coincide with Baleh Kapit Raft Safari 2018, disclosed Kapit District Council secretary Jabang Juntan.

When chairing the meeting for the formation of a committee for the Kapit Fest here recently, Jabang said several activities had been slotted for the event which would be mostly centred at Kapit Town Square.

Among the activities on the first day, he added, would be talks on food handling for food outlet operators in the morning at Kapit District Council conference room and the opening ceremony for the fest in the evening accompanied by cultural performances by troupes such as Kelab Gagung Sarawak.

On the second day, activities include aerobic exercise, fishing competition, cooking demonstration and competition and Kapit Got Talent competition in the evening.

Judging of the Best Stall competition, Big Bike Auto Show, Kapit Iron Man/Kapit Strong Man contest, colouring contest for children and the closing ceremony would be held on the last day (April 8), he added.

Philimon Nuing, the Walikota of Kapit District Council, has been appointed as the chairman of the Kapit Fest organising committee.

He is assisted by Cr Daniel Levoh and Cr Lawrence Listin Baling, the deputy Walikota of Kapit District Council.

Jabang was appointed as the committee’s secretary and he will be assisted by Kelimbik Sibat while the council’s treasurer Debbie Rachel Intuinie is the treasurer.

Representatives of the various government departments and non-governmental organisations attending the meeting were appointed as committee members.

The committee will meet again tomorrow (March 23) to finalise the details of the programme and preparation.
