MIRI: Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Miri branch yesterday launched its E-Service Corner, one of its initiatives to facilitate its contributors and their employers access to information on the fund faster and easier.

State EPF manager Aminuddin Abdul Aziz said EPF is constantly working on empowering its clients by providing various platforms to facilitate them in getting information on EPF affairs.

“The top management is paying close attention to EPF branches with the potential to expand our services and Miri is one of the selected branches to start evolving our services for the convenience of our customers and the E-Service Counter, apart from our other services, is also in line with the nation’s aspiration towards digital economy,” he said at the launching of the E-Service Corner at EPF Miri branch office yesterday.

EPF Miri is among the first branches in the state to have its own outreach mobile team, Retirement Advisory Service (RAS) and also the Multipurpose Processing Centre (MPC) to cater to the customers.

EPF Miri head Unyang Deng/Nellie, meanwhile, said 7,600 employers in Miri are contributing to EPF and the
branch receives about 2,000 applications for withdrawal in a month.

She said the existence of the mobile team, MPC and RAS will ensure smooth delivery of service to customers at all times, looking at the high number of customers that the branch has.

“We also want the public to know about our online services and the EPF savings for the informal sector such as Uber or Grab drivers and apart from the counter services, our mobile team will go up to Marudi, Batu Niah and wherever needed to assist employers.

“MPC is a special unit of officers to process withdrawals while the RAS counter serves to help members achieve a sustainable retirement, especially for members who will be retiring soon or recently retired and members will be given guidance and options that can help them manage and increase their EPF savings,” she said, adding
all employers will be required to use its online services as the branch will cease getting payments from employers by cheques and so on from July 1 onwards.

Also present were Miri mayor Adam Yii, state EPF service head Chia Swee Choo, state EPF enforcement head Irma Jalil and other senior EPF officers.
