SIBU: University College of Technology Sarawak’s (UCTS) Centre for Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD) held its first international action research workshop at its campus here recently for the lecturers of Politeknik Negeri Pontianak (Polnep), Indonesia.
Nine English language lecturers led by Dr Ardi Marwan attended the workshop conducted by Assoc Prof Dr Lau Hieng Soon.
“It was an enjoyable and stimulating intellectual engagement for the sharing of knowledge and skills of the action research through the participant-centred activities which included explanation, brainstorming, discussion, presentation as well as question-and-answer sessions,” UCTS said in a press release.
It added that Ardi and the eight other lecturers said they thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and had learned a lot, while also expressing their hope of attending similar workshops at UCTS in the future.
The participants were given a guided tour of UCTS and were impressed with the Green Building Index (GBI) Platinum award-winning and futuristic campus, equipped with the latest cutting-edge technology facilities.
The workshop concluded with a presentation of certificates by UCTS vice chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Khairuddin Abdul Hamid, who expressed his hope for more future collaboration between UCTS and Polnep, including conducting the action research course at Polnep.
Director of CEPD Assoc Prof Dr Ramli Rashidi was among those present at the certificate-presentation ceremony.
