Mara contributes immensely to Sarawak Bumiputeras

SIBU : Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) has contributed immensely to the economic development and improvement in the standard of living among the Bumiputera community in the state.

A political secretary to the chief minister, Abu Seman Jahwie said that previously Mara has been closely linked to loans for those keen to operate a business

“However, as time passes by Mara has successfully produced young bumiputera who are successful in economy and education,” he said.

He was speaking when officiating at the Entrepreneur Mini Carnival 2018 held at Mara Arcade here yesterday.

Mara Sibu District officer Mohd Razib Mohd Tahir and the chairman of Sibu Mara Tenants’ and Entrepeneurs’ Association, Sarbini@Selohi Awai were also present.

The event which is held from March 30 until April 1 is jointly organised by the Sibu Mara Tenants’ and Entrepeneurs’ Association and Mara Sibu District.

“Mara has provided many facilities to the Bumiputera community in education, technical training, business loans, investment and many more,”.

“Thus, the Bumiputera community should fully utilise the facilities provided by MARA,” he pointed out.

On another note, Abu Seman called on the Bumiputera business community to love and appreciate their businesses.

“The capital alone is not enough, if the business has no elements of attraction such as cleanliness, warm hospitable environment and others. Even though these things appear insignificant, they make huge impact on business development and progress,” he added.

Apart from the food and drink stalls and stalls selling other items, the children’s karaoke contest, children colouring contest, entrepreneurship seminar, a briefing by the participating government agencies and departments was also held.
