KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah chief Tan Sri Musa Aman said the Matunggong state seat will remain with PBS.

Musa in a statement yesterday said  BN would field a candidate from Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) in Matunggong this 14th general election.

PBS leaders were up in arms when Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi during his visit to Matunggong last weekend suggested that the state seat which BN lost to PKR in the 13th general election be ‘loaned’ to another party this coming election.

PBS vice president Datuk Seri Panglima Radin Malleh and PBS Matunggong chief Serapin Magana went as far as to say that should this happen, PBS might contest under its own flag and symbol in the 14th general election.

“I have spoken to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi about the matter and he explained that it was just a proposal from certain quarters like what had happened in other areas.

“The seats division among BN Sabah component parties remains status quo,” said Musa.

The position and role of every component party in BN Sabah needs to be recognised and respected, he said , adding: “This is our stand and this is also my stand in leading Umno Sabah.”
