Tatau flood victims receive cash assistance

BINTULU: A total of 142 households from Tatau district who were affected by the recent flood received cash aid amounting to RM71,000 from the government yesterday.

They were among those evacuated to flood relief centres after their houses were inundated by the flood waters.

Each family received RM500 cash aid.

The aid was handed over by Assistant Minister of Native Lands and Customs Datuk John Sikie Tayai who is also Kakus assemblyman at Tatau Sports Centre.

The distribution of the aid for flood victims were run smoothly as they have been divided into their respective relief
centres.

Also present at the event were Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee secretariat chief Major Ismail Mahedin, a representative of Tatau District officer Muhammad Dino Amid, Tatau police chief DSP Dennis Bunyam and Tatau Fire and Rescue Department station chief Nazari Harun.
