‘Mahathir factor’ makes GE14 most intense election ever – Palawan rep

SIBU: Palawan assemblyman David Wong Kee Woan believes this general election will be more intense that previous elections due to the ‘Mahathir factor’.

The DAP Sarawak deputy chairman said it was beyond anybody’s prediction that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad would form a partnership with Pakatan Harapan (PH).

“This 14th general election represents the best chance for PH to take over Putrajaya. The Mahathir factor is going to make a lot of difference as there will not only be a Malay-tsunami, but a people’s tsunami,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

On the May 9 polling day set by the Election Commission, Wong said the weekday polling date had initially created a sense of gloom amongst outstation or overseas voters as many of them feared not being able to return to cast their vote.

“However, just yesterday, feedback from friends indicated that many Sarawakians working outstation are expected to return to vote. This is good news.”
