KAPIT: The divisional Education office here and Persatuan Ibu Bapa Komuniti (PIBK) of SK Nanga Yong are commended for putting up a PIBK Sekolah-Sekolah ZOLORENG programme to motivate the pupils to concentrate on critical subjects such as English, Bahasa Malaysia, Science, and Mathematics.

The programme was also aimed at telling the parents the importance of education.

Giving this accolade was Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi when officiating at the closing of the programme at SK Nanga Yong recently.

He said the annual programme was also beneficial for the pupils who will be sitting for the UPSR in September.

Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit, a political secretary to chief minister Tapah Ata, director of Rajang Teachers’ Training Institute Dr Lambat Lindong, lecturer James Siba, Kapit  education officer Ringgit @ Gawan Saut, and SK Nanga Yong headmaster Dennis Rebal were among those present.

“I pledge my support to the PIBKs of schools in whatever beneficial projects they want to do. I also appreciate the good cooperation from parents for also attending this programme,” Nanta said.

SK Nanga Yong is one of  the schools in the rural areas with a big student population.

It is accessible by road to downtown Kapit.

On another subject, Nanta said a  site for the proposed vocational school here has been identified.

On completion, the school will provide students with soft skills training.

Nanta also presented a RM8,000-grant to SK Nanga Yong for organising the programme while Jamit pledged RM5,000.

Later, he (Nanta) presented certificates of attendance to PIBK chairmen of SK Ulu Yong, SK Nanga Yong, SK Trusa, SK Nanga Ibau and SK Ibau who also attended the programme.
