GE14: Lawas police on guard against possible threats

LAWAS: Police here are all-out prepared for the May 9 parliamentary election, maintaining their vigilance over the situation on the ground and eliminate the possibility of any security threat that could affect the smooth running of the polls in this constituency.

According to Lawas OCPD DSP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, this district is a relatively safe and peaceful place.

“Politically-linked developments have yet to develop into becoming a security issue (here),” he said at the meeting involving members of the district’s 14th general election (GE14) operations management committee yesterday, chaired by Lawas District Officer Hussaini Hakim.

Abang Zainal Abidin said the monitoring would also cover any potential or risk of Daesh threat coming to disrupt the coming election.

“Our men are ready to face any unexpected development that could threaten public peace and order in this election.

Meanwhile in his remarks, Hussaini called upon all quarters to work together as a team in facing any threat during the polls.

He also expressed his thanks to Lawas Police for upholding peace and order in the district.
