Hand woven Penan baskets on display and sale at ‘Creative Crafts’ fair at Delta Mall.
SIBU: Hand woven Penan baskets are by far the biggest attraction at the two-day ‘Creative Crafts’ fair in the Delta Mall which ends today at 9pm.
“The high quality baskets are on display for sale at ‘penanwomenprojectXpoppies’ stall,” said a spokeswoman Wendy Lau.
“We’re helping Penan women to market their products at community fairs, bazaars and so on in Miri, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, and Penang, with the proceeds channeled towards helping the Penan community,” she added.
The fair which has 24 stalls selling a variety of items, is jointly organised by the `artogether zakka market’ and 1Malaysia Community Deshon.
Participants include single mothers, people with disabilities and members of non-governmental organisations.
