BINTULU: A total of 184 students from Mara Skills Institute (IKM) Bintulu received their certificates at its fourth convocation ceremony here yesterday.
The students were enrolled in five certificate-level programmes- piping fabrication engineering technology, structure fabrication engineering technology, instrumentation maintenance engineering technology, plant control, plant operation engineering technology and electrical installation engineering technology.
Minister of Utilities and Kemena assemblyman Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom presented the scrolls to the students at Dewan Perdana Sri Kenyalang.
During the ceremony, 15 special awards were also presented to the outstanding students.
The Best Overall Graduate Award went to Suriati Saimi from the instrumentation maintenance engineering technology and plant control programme (January to June 2017 session) and Nurul Hazani Jaini (structure fabrication engineering technology – July to December 2017 session).
The Best Graduates for the January to June 2017 session were Muhamad Naim Mohammad Taip, Perterus Suma, Mohammad Syafie Aluai, Juliana Tawau and Suriati Saimi.
The Best Graduates Award (July to December 2017 session) went to Muhamad Halim Naim Abdull Rashid, Mohd Khairudin Iman, Dayangku Nur Kelisa Awangku Abdullah, Nurul Hazani Jaini and Abang Nur Salihin Abang Azmi.
The Special Department Award went to the twin brothers, Wan Muhammad Afiq Wan Tuah and Wan Muhammad Syafiq Wan Tuah. The Entrepreneurship Award was awarded to Mohammad Syafie Aluai while the Industrial Award went to Abang Nur Salihin Abang Azmi.
Also present at the event were Mara Skills and Technical Division director Mahzan Teh, IKM Bintulu director Dr Mohd Nawawi Omar, IKM deputy director (Academic Affairs) Ahmad Lukman Hitam and IKM deputy director (Management Service and Students Affairs) Zamzuri Zainal Abidin.
