KUCHING: The two-day ‘Sejiwa Senada’ programme will take place at the bus terminal in Lubok Antu – a border town near Sri Aman – starting tomorrow.

According to the State Protocol and Public Relations Unit, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will officiate at the event on Tuesday morning.

The Lubok Antu leg will serve as an opportunity for the people from around Betong, Sri Aman, Engkilili and other nearby areas to visit the booths and get access to the services, information and consultation from the government and government-linked companies (GLCs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the private sector.

There will be more than 30 booths available, making available various state and federal government services, advisory, exhibitions and sale of local products to the visitors. A variety of food and drinks will also be on sale at the ‘Sarawak Kitchen’.

There will be lucky draws that offer two motorcycles, mobile phones and many other electrical items for the winners. Another interesting event for the public is the ‘Sejiwa Senada Concert’ on May 7 (Monday), scheduled to commence at 8pm.

It will feature many top Malaysian artistes such as Bob AF, Zizi Kirana, Ricky Andrewson, Ricky El, Melissa Francis, Franklin Maxwell, Jennifer Jack, Iwan Dasri and Zaki Zaidi with D’ Cipta band.

The singers will also perform in a show on Tuesday at 8.30am, before the arrival of the Chief Minister.

In addition, the act by RTM Kuching’s popular comedians, Bunyau and Mujap, will surely amuse the big crowd expected at the concert.

The Bunyau-Mujap duo from RTM’s Wai.FM has been travelling throughout the state to deliver their comedies, especially for the Iban community.

The ‘Sejiwa Senada’ programme is one of the initiatives by the state government to be closer to the ‘rakyat’ (people) by going to the ground – it is aptly themed ‘Government with the People’.

It also acts as a one-stop centre for the government to serve the people, and also for them to be involved in other activities such as sports and recreation.

The programme is also meant to enhance the feel good factor among the people so that they would be confident and aware of what the government is doing in bringing development and also to uplift the socio-economic standard of the people.
