MIRI: The publicity chief of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Adam Yii has come out in defence of BN candidate Datuk Sebastian Ting who is accused of being greedy for wanting to be both an MP and a assemblyman after having won Piasau in the last state election.

It is viralled in social media that Ting is greedy in wanting to be both.

“Ting is chosen by SUPP top leaders because he is the most qualified and most suited to be the successor of former MP Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui. Ting was his political secretary for 10 years, and during that period, he has been trained and exposed. He has the experience and good networking with the federal leaders. If we have any issue with people at the federal level, he (Ting) is the most suitable person to deal with it,” said Yii.

He also said Ting had no intention to occupy two seats.

“It’s just incidental because Ting lost in the 2013 general election, which resulted in him contesting in the Piasau seat in the last state election. To be honest, even occupying two positions is not unusual.

State DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen is both an MP and an assemblyman. Even Ba Kelalan assemblyman Baru Bian is also contesting for an MP seat in Selangau.

Yii thus said that the issue of Ting, already an assemblyman, contesting for an MP seat in Miri is a non-issue, and should be put to rest.
