KAPIT: The Chinese community here is called upon to give its undivided support to Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for this parliamentary constituency Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi to ensure that he would win with a big majority.

According to Bukit Goram Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women chief Datin Angelina Celestine Ujang, it is vital for everyone to work together to create a ‘win-win’ situation for the overall benefit of the constituency.

“Kapit is too small and we can’t work alone. We have to stay together and work together so that everybody benefits from the politics of development as advocated by our government,” said Angelina, who is Nanta’s wife.

Speaking at a dinner hosted by Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) here on Friday, she said Nanta’s allocation of funds had greatly benefitted Chinese non-governmental organisations (NGOs) here, allowing them to conduct many activities for their members and the community in general.

“I appeal to all Chinese community leaders, leaders of the Chinese associations, clubs and also the elders to make an effort to explain to your community the need to support the government candidate in the coming election.

“We must let the young generation understand the reality of who is capable of bringing development to Kapit.

“One of the criteria to have an environment conducive to businesses, is political unity.”

The function was hosted by Councillor Jenny Yii at her house along Jalan Padang Sukan here, with over 100 guests in attendance.
